House rules

Timing, setup, and cleanup

Your reservation includes setup and cleanup, so book enough time for both. Early entry needs our approval, and a late arrival does not extend your end time. Staying more than 5 minutes past your end time without approval extends the booking by 30 minutes at 1.5× the hourly rate.

Decorations

Make the studio your own. Please skip nails, tape, tacks, command strips, and adhesives on walls, ceilings, furniture, or windows, as well as glitter, confetti, smoke bombs, fog machines, candles, sparklers, and open flames.

Food, drinks, and alcohol

Outside food, drinks, catering, and alcohol are welcome. Everyone drinking alcohol must be 21 or older, and alcohol cannot be sold. Cooking is not allowed; the kitchenette is for prep and serving.

Music and neighbors

Connect your own device to our SONOS speakers instead of bringing extra speakers. Loud music ends by 12 AM, and the front door stays closed during events.

Damage and fees

The person who books is responsible for any damage during the reservation. Smoking or vaping inside: $200. Bulky trash left behind: $200. Damaged paper backdrop: $20. Damaged curtains: $50. Damaged backdrop stand or curtain track: $100.

Before you leave

Return furniture and props to their places, take trash and decorations with you, and turn off lights and speakers. Items left behind are kept for 14 days.

Up to 60 guests, depending on the type of event. MARPA comfortably hosts intimate gatherings, workshops, celebrations, and creative projects. If you are unsure whether your group is a good fit, reach out and we will help.

Does my reservation include setup and cleanup time?

Yes. Your reservation time includes both setup and cleanup, so book enough time to prepare the space and leave it as you found it.

Can I decorate the space?

Yes, we love seeing guests make MARPA their own. To help us care for the studio, decorations should not need nails, tape, adhesives, glitter, confetti, or anything that could damage the walls or furniture.

Can I tour the space before booking?

Absolutely. Seeing the space in person can help you picture your event. Reach out through our contact form and we will do our best to arrange a self-guided tour, based on availability.

Can I bring outside food, catering, or alcohol?
